About Fishery

The fisheries industry in Malaysia comprises two main sub-sectors: marine fisheries and aquaculture. In recent years, the industry has faced various challenges including overfishing, pollution, and the impacts of climate change. These challenges have resulted in dwindling fish stock and high prices. To address these issues, the government has implemented policies and initiatives such as the establishment of marine protected areas, promotion of sustainable fishing practices, and programs to mitigate the effects of climate change. These measures aim to ensure the long-term sustainability of the industry while protecting the environment.
